London Fashion Week- The diary of an intern

Each February designers, press, buyers and bloggers come to London to experience the fashion industries biggest and most exciting time of year London Fashion Week. This year I decided to get down to London and see what it was all about. I applied for an internship with Fashion scout; the second biggest event at London fashion week, after Sommerset house. Branded as 'the international showcase for fashion innovation' Fashion scout carefully select and showcase the most exciting new and upcoming designers. Brands such as Pam Hogg and Eudon Choi are amongst the talented designers that have been scouted here.

Hosted in the stunning venue of the Freemasons Hall, I began my adventure a week before London fashion week opened working as part of the build team. It was a great insight to participate in the set up for the shows. I got to see how the whole event came together. To anyone that works in events may I say kudos! It's been a crazy busy few weeks, 10 consecutive 12 hour working days and non stop planning, organising and structuring, however I have loved every minute of it!

My first day at fashion scout was spent attending trade shows 'Pure' and 'Scoop' here I liaised with designers promoting the events, for the rest of the week I joined the build team in preparing the venue for the shows. It was great to see every aspect of the project coming together from building mannequins for the exhibition, to painting benches for the catwalk hall, I certainly have a new found appreciation towards every detail thought out at an event. Fashion Scout sponsors include Body Shop, Tony and Guy, Pod and Vita Coco. This meant lots of exciting goodie bags for the guests and lots of goodie bag filling and deliveries for the interns. It certainly isn't all glamourous at LFW. By day four we had set up and layed out two catwalk halls, an exhibition room, media lounge and 5 make up rooms.

On the Monday fashion week began there was an immediate buzz as the building filled with Fashionistas. My week was mostly spent Front of house manning the Backstage entry, managing lists for PR and production teams and of course spotting the Made in Chelsea and X-factor celebs. I also spent some of the days back stage dressing models and assisting the production teams, the atmosphere and excitement back stage was amazing. Catching a few of the shows was a great bonus to interning with Fashion scout, this included a stunning Mad hatter themed exhibition by 'Liz Black' and Merit award winner 'Yifang Wan's' Catwalk show. Interning with Fashion Scout has been a fantastic experience and a great inspiration being surrounded by so many talented designers. Take a look at my pictures from my experience below.
