London part 2

A new week and a new intern in the fashion cupboard at Easy living. I was so happy for a new girl to start working with me, bubbly and friendly as I could have asked for! We immediately got on well. The best thing about internships is definitely contacts, my new colleague was quick to fill me in on all her stories, tips and lessons that she had learnt in the industry. The week consisted of lots more returns and I have to admit Im starting to get a kick out of organising and clearing out the cupboard! My london experience really got exciting this week when I attended the amazing Westminster graduate fashion show, models included Pixie Geldoff and current face of chanel Alice Dellal, and the event showcased 18 of the top graduates collections. The weeks been crazy mad with all sorts of London fun packed evenings, launch parties, fashion shows and trips to gay bars (spotting Markus Collins) and on my last day lunch at Dover street only to see on the table next to me Sir Elton John, Sam Taylor-wood and Aaron Johnson! For the first time I'm wishing my uni life away, I can't WAIT to move down to London!

London week one

I have decided to keep a diary of my days as an intern at Easy Living Magazine, so here goes...

'Late on sunday night, after a four hour train trip across the country, I arrived in London. Excitement and nerves hitting me for my day ahead. Unorganized as ever, at around midnight it hit me that I didn't know what time or the location of where I was working the next day! (tip number one plan this out in advance) I was delighted to find out that I would be waltzing around Bond street like a true Fashionista! I arrived far too early the next morning, and was introduced to the team and taken to my new home for the month 'the fashion cupboard' For anyone who thinks a fashion internship is boring and you sit around all day making tea it's definately not, however equally don't expect to be going along to cover shoots in your first weeks! The week mostly entailed, filing, returns, organising, returns, call ins and oh returns, but all in all its been great fun so far! I can't believe how much I have learnt; designers, press companies, shops. More in the past week than I have in a year of uni! (not that I don't love my course) Although I am not in the magazine limelight its an exciting environment to be in. I get a buzz every time I play a small part in the amazing process, just answering the phone to call in a Stella McCartney coat, that will later be worn by an A-lister or gorgeous model, or giving my opinion on the nicer pair of Jimmy Choo's, is enough to keep me going through the hectic day! One of the best things about Internships is meeting people and learning from their journey into the industry, although I have been warned 'if you can do anything don't do fashion' by the odd over exhausted still unemployed graduate, I am only motivated as someone who loves a challenge! The hightlight of this week was probably my goodie bag, ok I might be exhausted and working for free, but I got free Accessories and I'm surrounded by designer clothes, Im loving it!'

Vintage beauty to Photoshop and Botox

Just celebrated my sisters 21st, this had us flicking through hundreds of photographs, leading me to a conclusion... there is something so much more desirable about a picture taken 20 years ago. Yes I do appreciate the quality of modern technology (most of the time), however it is not just the pictures that appear more natural and authentic. It's the people too, each one totally unique! Quite contrary to the 2K12 look; Tan, makeup, botox, photo-shopped pictures and high-street clothes!
Unfortunately, I can't say I'm the exception, Its a shame to think that my grandchildren might look at pictures of me in my teens, and think I look like a clone of everyone else (and I say this in exception to the fact that I have an identical twin sister) I know its a classic fashion cliche 'unique is the best way' and I probably also sound a bit old fashioned, but I would really like to see more personality, expression and naturally beauty in the fashion world! Surely high end designers should be the at the forefront of exampling this!
I Love this first picture below. To me it looks to epitomise both Kate Moss and Donatella's  genuine happiness and perhaps represents Donatella's Italian Beauty, before that magic cosmetic wand was waved one too many times.
